As a member of BNI Granta Chapter in Cambridge UK, I had the wonderful privilege to present my '10 Minutes' at this morning's chapter meeting - 1st October 2013. For those of you who are unfamiliar or completely unaware of what BNI is, it is a business referral networking group that operates throughout the world.
BNI been going for about 30 years, has about 150,000 members and last year alone generated 7.1 million referrals resulting in $3.3 billion business! Haha, even I got a bit of that! :)
One of the benefits about being a member is that in any one chapter there may only be one person per profession speciality. That's good, because I'm the only photographer in mine - Granta Chapter, Cambridge UK.
The '10 Minutes' allows me a longer opportunity, than I would normally have at the the 'weekly' meeting, to demonstrate:
Another benefit - the whole purpose of being in BNI - is that as members of a chapter gain understanding, confidence, trust and credibility about each others' businesses and services, they become happy to refer those members, businesses and services to people outside the chapter. By doing so potential business is generated by the passing of qualified recommendations or referrals. At BNI we call that 'Givers Gain'.....and indeed they do. How good is that! I have about 50 people keeping their ears and eyes open on my behalf to recommend my services to people they bump into - friends, family, business associates, strangers - and I do the same for them.
There are chapters all over the place, and a visit to come and see for yourself costs only a bit of time and effort. You can come and make your own assessment...and there's no obligation or pressure to join. If you're keen to grow your own business you might just wish to join!
If you're local to Cambridge and interested to learn more, please get in touch with me (I don't bite) and I'll happily invite you to BE MY GUEST :) particularly if, as at October 2013, you're a:
So, there it is. If you're one of those....please give me a shout :)
As I was saying, I showed the members of my chapter a cross-section of the scope of my work - a bit of an image 'grab' really - but why not take a look for youself by clicking on the video* below.....and, of course, please take a look around the rest of my website and if I can be of assistance to you, please contact me.
*Just one quick point about the first 3 images which, unless you were there, you won't understand. The presentation slide show, below, is as it was shown and had the benefit of me explaining a few things along the way. The first 2 images I took on the Saigon River, Viet Nam and was used to demonstrate the power of images to communicate, to persuade, provoke or to influence. The first image shows the tragic circumstance of two ocean-going ships that have apparently collided head-on. The second employs a change of perspective and reveals the 'truth' behind the situation - simply two shipd moored-up and left to rot away. The third image, one I took in Singapore, simply shows that observation, anticipation and timing are part of the arsenal of good image making!
